Some of my bloodwork has been posted.

The only thing out of the norm is my Urea-Nitrogen (BUN) number jumped from the 16-17 it has been for years to 24.

One of the causes can be a high protein diet.

I have had two panels ran since I started Carnivore and the previous two were 16 and then 17 about 3 months or so in. Today showed a significant jump.

As of late I have been eating a lot more. I have been lifting a bit more and have also been eating more to have enough protein to build muscle. I6 does not feel excessive but I am not sure. I eat a couple three, sometimes four eggs in the morning. If we have leftover meat from the night before I eat that too. I then eat again at night with my wife. Still strictly carnivore, but I am eating more than I feel like eating (if that makes sense).

I think I will ease back to eating when I am hungry which will be about OMAD and see if numbers track down. First time I seen those numbers go up ever, and the only thing changed is I purposely increased protein the last few weeks/month ago.

I'm going to move back into that direction.

The morning meal was for the 'extra protein' to build muscle and the evening meal has been to eat dinner with my wife. I doubt I have been actually hungry on either of the occasions.

I have more bloodwork in another month or so in late December. I am planning to eat more 'sensibly' between now and then.

It’s been my experience and it’s also recommended by many in the carnivore community such as Dr. Baker that we should not eat by the clock or socially but only when we are hungry.

I believe this to be absolutely true. I eat at my own schedule. At dinner time at the table, this means I mostly don't eat. I'll just do all the talking. Makes you realize the social significance of eating together.

On the carnivore diet we do get enough protein to build muscle, it's much less of a factor to consider. Building mass, that is going to be a bit more challenging.

To expand on that I’d like to point out that we as carnivores try to imitate how our ancestors ate as far as the type of food we eat but we often continue to eat as modern man eats. I don’t believe that early man ate by any schedule but only when he was hungry. Early man did not have a concept of time but he knew when he was hungry. When he was hungry he either grabbed some leftover meat or he went hunting and when he ate he ate until he was full.

Yes eating by schedule is engrained into us by indoctrination from society.

I marched to my own tune from jr high school.  Didn't follow the crowd etc.

Eat when you're hungry until satiated and nevermind what others say or think.

Yes, and I wouldn't worry about this. Mine is over 100, but that is because I am stage 4 CKD so I don't excrete the wastes from protein breakdown very efficiently at all.

Thanks.

I have another round of bloodwork in a few weeks. Usually about 6 weeks after the infusion.

This is the first time that number ever actually moved.

So, of course I go to the primary source of medical information on the planet....Google.

The first probable cause was a HIGH PROTEIN diet and the only thing that has changed of late is I increased the protein intake for lifting purposes.

I didn't think (and still don't think) I ate a ton extra, but I guess everyone can be different. I average about a 14oz. rib eye a day, or maybe 12oz or so of burger, or a couple three chicken thighs. It was a job to get that eaten. For the extra I added bacon or sausage with a couple-three eggs in the morning. It does not sound like a lot to me but maybe it is for me.

Next round of bloodwork will give more details.
